Drug peddler dies in police custody

Magisterial enquiry ordered

JAMMU, Sept 14: A drug peddler died in the custody of Miran Sahib Police today.
As per police sources, a drug peddler was arrested by a team of Miran Sahib Police Station from Janipur area.
The arrested drug peddler was identified as Ikhlaq Ahmed Khan (32), son of Mohammad Yaqob Khan, a resident of Kotli Manjakote, District Rajouri, at present Jammu.
As police team was taking the accused to police station, he felt uneasiness and was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The dead body has been shifted to morgue of GMCH for autopsy.
When contacted SP Headquarters Farooq Qaiser told the EXCELSIOR that inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated in the case. A Magisterial enquiry has also been ordered in the case, he added.
