Drug peddler held, charas recovered

Srinagar, Mar 29: Police today arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered charas from his possession in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police spokesman said during routine checking at Kanispora area of the district, police observed suspicious movement of two young men. “Police party cautioned them to stop which they ignored and started running,” he said.
He said the police managed to arrest one of them identified as Shakeel Ahmad Wani and recovered three kilograms of charas from him while another identified as Rafiq Ahmad Wani managed to escape from the spot but left a bag on road. “On search of the bag three more kilograms of charas was recovered. Police have launched manhunt to nab him,” he said.
The spokesman added that over the past few months 18 notorious drug peddlers involved in multiple cases of drug trafficking across Baramulla district have been apprehended and detained under the stringent J&K PIT-NDPS Act.
