Drug peddler held with 11 kg poppy straw

JAMMU, Nov 12: A drug peddler was arrested with 11 kilograms of poppy straw from Manwal area here today.
A police official said that during routine naka checking at Nadal naka, one person driving an Activa scooty was signalled to stop but he didn’t.
He said the police party chased and overpowered the fleeing individual and on search of his vehicle, 11 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, police have arrested and booked accused identified as Gagandeep Singh of Village Siryalan Kalan, District Hoshiyarpur, Punjab in case FIR number 247/2024 under sections 8/15/60 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and started further investigation into the matter.
