Drug peddler held with 43 kgs poppy straw

RAMBAN, Dec 12: Police arrested a drug peddler hailing from Punjab along with 43 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace to check smuggling of drugs and bovine smuggling.
During checking, a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB10BM-9510, which was on its way from Kashmir was intercepted.
The vehicle found ladden with apple boxes and recovered filled gunny bags fitted in between the apple boxes containing 43 kilograms of poppy straw.
The smuggler identified as Mohammad Ashraf, son of Abdul Gaffar, a resident of Punjab was arrested.
A case under FIR Number 200/18 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
