Drug peddler held with 51 gm Charas

JAMMU, Mar 1: Police claimed on Wednesday that they have arrested a drug peddler from Pargwal area and recovered from his possession 51 grams of Charas.
A police spokesperson said that a naka was laid at Malabela area of Pargwal today, where the accused, Shashant Sharma of Payan, Akhnoor, tried to flee on seeing the police party under suspicious circumstances.
He was chased and overpowered by the alert jawans led by ASI Jai Singh and during search of his belongings, 51 grams of the Charas was recovered, he said.
Police have booked the accused under the relevant sections of the law and taken up further investigations.
Pertinently, the seizure and arrest was made by PSI Baljeet Singh under the supervision of SHO Khour Rattan Rana and SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma.
