Drug peddler held with charas

JAMMU, Dec 4: Police arrested a middle aged drug peddler along with charas from Shakti Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Bakshi Nagar police station and Sarwal police post jointly laid a naka near Shakti Nagar and signaled a scooter bearing registration number JK02N-2382 for checking.
On seeing police team, the rider accelerated the scooter and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 90 grams of charas from the possession of the rider who was arrested accordingly. The scooter was also seized.
The drug peddler has been identified as Sanjay Verma, son of Ram Parkash Verma, a resident of New Plot.
A case under FIR Number 156/15 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused at police station Bakshi Nagar and investigations started.
Police team led by SHO Bakshi Nagar police station Inspector Ashwani Sharma and Incharge Sarwal police post SI Vikas Hans made the arrest under the supervision of Incharge SDPO West Vivek Shekhar, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
