Drug peddler held with contraband

JAMMU, May 10: Akhnoor Police today arrested a drug peddler with ganja and heroin while he was moving on a bike.
“During routine naka checking at Khugga (Akhnoor), a man travelling on a Pulsar bike bearing registration number JK12A-9748 tried to flee the naka when signaled to stop but the alert police party managed to apprehend the rider along with bike,” a Police spokesman said.
He said on checking of the accused identified as Irfan Shakoor son of Shakoor Ahmed resident of Dhargaloon (Balakote, Poonch), 50 grams of ganja and 2 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from his possession.
“The accused was arrested and contraband as well as the bike was taken into custody,” the spokesman said, adding, a case FIR Number 78/2024 was registered in this connection at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation started.
The arrest, seizure and recovery were made by a police party headed by SHO Akhnoor Tariq Ahmad, under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma.
