Srinagar, Mar 18: Acting tough against drug dealings, Police in Budgam have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Police in a statement said that based on credible input, officers from PS Chrar-i-Sharief along with Executive Magistrate 1st Class raided a residential house of a notorious drug peddler identified as Mehraj-ud-din Shah resident of Nowhar Chrar-i-Sharief.
“During the search, officers were able to recover 900gms of Charas from the residential house. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Pertinently, police said, he was found involved in smuggling drugs and distributing them among gullible masses in return for a hefty profit.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 08/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Chrar-i-Sharief and an investigation has been initiated.
