Drug-peddler held with heroin

POONCH, Jan 29: The police arrested a drug-peddler and recovered some quantity of heroin from his possession in Mendhar area today.
A police official said that acting on a specific information, a special naka was established at new Jabba bridge, Mendhar. During checking one suspect was intercepted and on his personal search, nearly 10 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Waseem Ahmed, son of Mohd Maqsood, resident of Goladh, in tehsil Mendhar. He was immediately taken into custody, and a case FIR No. 11/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Mendhar as per Inspector Aejaz Wani, SHO PS Mendhar. Further investigation is underway.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused is a habitual offender involved in drug peddling and has been supplying narcotics to local youth in the Jabba, Hakeem Morh, and Sangala Chowk areas.
