KISHTWAR, Dec 7: Police here today arrested a drug peddler and recovered 11 grams of heroin-like substance from him.
A naka was established by cops from Police Station Kishtwar at link road, Malipeth, Lower Kishtwar where the accused Shoukat Ali, son of Shafi Mohd, resident of Dhammi, Nagrota, district Jammu, currently residing near Islamia Faridia School, Kishtwar was apprehended with approximately 11 grams heroin-like substance.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar in FIR No. 289/2024, under Sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act and investigation started.
SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir had directed the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case to ascertain the forward and backward links of the accused to uncover the supply chain and identify other possible associates involved in the drug trade.
He also instructed the IO to examine the bank statements of the accused and his financial transactions to trace the origins and beneficiaries of the illicit trade.
SSP Kishtwar has reiterated that District Police Kishtwar remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate drug abuse and safeguard the youth from falling into the trap of such illicit activities.
