Drug peddler held with heroin-like-substance

JAMMU, Jan 9: A drug peddler was arrested with 6 grams of heroin-like-substance from Paloura here today.
A police official said that Vishal Sharma alias Vishu was roaming under suspicious conditions near Lohan Park, Paloura.
He said on search of the suspect, 6 grams of heroin-like-substance was recovered.
He was accordingly booked in case FIR number 02/2025 under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Janipur and further investigations taken up.
Quoting preliminary investigations, the police official said that the accused had been selling narcotics from the last many years for undue profit generation.
“Accused Sharma is part of a drug syndicate which is active in Jammu and are selling drugs to innocent youth of the area for gaining undue profits from the sale of narcotics and are responsible for overdose related deaths in the area,” he said.
According to the police official, this was the sixth FIR registered against Vishal Sharma.
His name also surfaced as supplier of heroin in case FIR number 162/2024 and the accused has also remained in Kot Bhalwal Jail under PIT NDPS Act for five months, added the police official.
Pertinently, the arrest and seizure was made by a team of Police Station Janipur led by SHO concerned Inspector Vikram Sharma under the supervision of SDPO City West Dr Satish Bhardwaj and SP City North Vivek Shekhar.
