JAMMU, Apr 28: A drug peddler was arrested with 4 grams of heroin like substance by Police in Bishnah area of the District today.
A police spokesperson said that a party of Police Station Bishnah led by SDPO RS Pura, Nikhil Gogna assisted by SHO Bishnah, Vikram Sharma under the overall supervision of SP Headquarters, Ramnish Gupta, established a naka at Ratnal for checking/frisking of the vehicles and pedestrians.
During checking, he said, the naka-checking-party signalled an Alto Car (JK2AB-5134) on way from Sarore towards Bishnah side, to stop but the driver of the vehicle tried to escape from the naka.
“He was however overpowered at a distance by the alert jawans,” said the spokesperson, adding, “during search of the suspect, police recovered 4 grams of heroin-like-substance from his possession.”
The accused identified as Mohammad Shareef of Jinder Khurd Tehsil Bishnah, District Jammu, has been booked in case FIR number 12/2023 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bishnah.
