Drug peddlers arrested with 50 gms heroin

KATHUA, June 14: Lakhanpur police arrested two drug peddlers along with 50 grams of heroin.
As per police sources, during routine checking on Basohli Morh, a team from Lakhanpur police station intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number PB35K-6386.
During checking, police recovered 50 grams heroin from the possession of rider and pillion rider and arrested them.
The drug peddlers have been identified as Zorawar Singh, son of Baldev Singh of Dhanore Kathua and Parvez Ahmed, son of Abdul Kareeb Bhatt of Kokernag, district Anantnag.
During questioning, the drug peddler disclosed that the consignment was meant for sale among the youth of the area.
A case under FIR Number 49/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Lakhanpur police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Lakhanpur Inspector Kulbir Singh Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of Additional SP Khalil Ahmed Poswal, DySP DAR Parul Bhardwaj and SSP Kathua Mohammad Suleman Choudhary.
“District Police is committed to provide a drug free society to the people and will continue the endeavour to wipe out the menace of drugs from the society,” SSP Kathua Mohammad Suleman Choudhary said.
