Drug peddlers arrested with intoxicant injections, cash, poppy straw

RAMBAN, Feb 3: Dharmkund and Ramban police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered intoxicant injections, Rs 2.16 lakh cash and poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Dharmkund Police Station laid a naka at Harog on Gool Road and intercepted one elderly person carrying bag.
On seeing cops, the person tried to escape, but the cops apprehended him after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 110 intoxicated injections and Rs 2,16,400 from the bag being carried by the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Yousuf (69), son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Neel, Chadoos, District Ramban.
During preliminary questioning, the accused disclosed that he used to sell intoxicant injections among the youth to make illegitimate profit.
A case under FIR Number 6/19 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused person at Police Station Dharmkund and investigation started to ascertain the source and other persons involved in smuggling of contraband.
Meanwhile, a team from Ramban Police Station laid a naka near Shan Palace and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB13AQ-6802.
During checking, police recovered 5 kilograms of poppy straw packed in a gunny bag from the cabin of the truck and arrested the trucker, who has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, son of Ajmer Singh, a resident of Mehmoodpur, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 25/19 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Dharmkund Inspector Ajeet Singh and SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal made the arrests under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Ramban Asgar Malik, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
