SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Police today arrested two drug peddlers from Kupwara and Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific input, a checkpoint was laid at Surigam Crossing in Sogam area of Kupwara district and a drug peddler was arrested while 3.5 kilograms of charas was recovered from his possession. “The arrested person has been identified as Muhammad Latief Chohan,” he said.
The spokesman said that a case under FIR number 61/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered and investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug peddler with contraband substance in Chewa area of Bandipora district. Acting on specific information, during checking at Chewa checkpoint, police intercepted a person and during checking, recovered 300 grams of Charas and 3 bags of raw material meant for preparing Charas from him, the police spokesman said.
“The drug peddler, identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat was arrested. A case under FIR number 141/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in and investigation was taken up,” he added.
