Srinagar, Nov 1:Police today said to have arrested 2 drug peddlers in Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Kanipora Shopian intercepted two persons identified as Waseem Ahmad Bati son of Talib Hussain Bati and Muzamil Ahmad Janjua son of Mohammad Amin Janjua both residents of Saaj Thanamandi Rajouri.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 10Kgs of poppy straw from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 280/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.
