SRINAGAR, Feb 15: Police today booked the most wanted and notorious drug smuggler under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
According to authorities, notorious drug smuggler, namely, Umar Farooq Najar, son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Kalayban Sheeri, Baramulla, has been booked after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
“The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu,” police said.
Police stated that many cases are registered against the said drug smuggler and he was involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kalayban, Sheeri, Fatehgarh, and other areas of the district.
Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth, police said.
