SRINAGAR, June 7: Police today booked a notorious drug smuggler under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining a formal detention order from the competent authority.
The drug smuggler has been identified as Tauseef Nabi Ganie, also known as Tauseef Pujj, son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Stadium Colony, Baramulla.
“The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal, Jammu,” police said.
Authorities stated that many cases are registered against the drug smuggler, who was involved in promoting the drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth in Baramulla Town and other areas of the district.
“Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting the drug trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” police said.
