JAMMU, Nov 18: Satwari police under “Operation Sanjeevani” apprehended a drugs supplier along with heroin worth several thousands.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Satwari Police Station laid a naka at Fowara Chowk near Technical Airport and intercepted a person coming from Gadigarh towards Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 11 grams heroin worth several thousands from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Surinder Singh alias Shantu, son of Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Gadigarh.
The accused was the main supplier of heroin in the Chatha and Gadigarh areas and with his arrested, police not only prevented the spread of drugs menace but also saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 228/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
