DSE brings GP Fund statement under RTI ambit

JAMMU, Apr 1: In a significant decision, Director School Education Jammu, Simrandeep Singh has directed all the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to issue GPF statements to their respective employees by May 30 every year in respect of the previous financial year.
Mr Singh, who is 1st Appellate Authority under RTI Act, has asked all DDOs (Principals of DIETs or HSSs/ZEOs/HMs) to take a formal receipt from their employees as a proof of the issuance of the statement.
The directions were issued by DSE after it came to fore that Teachers, Masters, Lecturers face lot of difficulties in getting their General Provident (GP) Fund statements from the concerned DDOs and the latter are indulging in malpractices in lieu of the GP Fund statements.
The issuance of GP Fund Statement, by all DDOs of Education Department under Directorate of School Education, Jammu shall fall within the ambit of proactive disclosure as per Rule 4 of the J&K RTI Act 2009.
Any non-compliance of this order shall be viewed as a violation of the order of the First Appellate Authority and the defaulters shall be recommended for penalty to the J&K Information Commission.
