JAMMU, Feb 11: Directorate of School Education Jammu, in collaboration with Bharti Foundation, organized an Orientation cum Felicitation programme for School Complex Heads.
More than 350 school complex Heads from Jammu Division participated and were oriented about” Life Skill Development among students through House System”.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu.
The project ‘Life Skill Development among Students through House System’ was launched this academic year under Satya Bharti Quality Support Program. The extensive offline training was initiated in August 2022 for more than 390 master trainers who cascaded the training to 8500+ teachers from 1100+ Government Schools in Jammu for building important life skills in students.
Antony Nellessery, Chief School Excellence at Bharti Foundation was the main resource person on the occasion. He elaborated on various life skills and methodology to impart the same through house activities. He also discussed various strategies to strengthen the house system as per best practices pan India. The session was supported by Shikha Rana, Head-Large Scale initiatives Bharti Foundation
Master trainers were felicitated for successfully completing teacher training in their jurisdiction. Furthermore, teachers and six District Coordinators from three best performing districts were also felicitated on successful initiation of the project in Government Schools.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director, School Education, Jammu in his inaugural address underscored the significance of critical life skills as per NEP 2020. He emphasized that these life skills will surely build a wave of change in education. He also oriented the school complex heads about the school complex system and its effective implementation in accordance with the guidelines of NEP 2020.
Mamta Saikia, CEO-Bharti Foundation expressed her delight on the successful initiation of the project and said that such good practices should be replicated and scaled up in government schools.
H.R. Pakhroo, Joint Director SCERT J&K UT too acknowledged the work done at the gross root level and said that this built a systemized process of training master trainers on building life skills in students through House System and cascade training to government school teachers.
Dr. Romesh Kumar, Head Counselling Cell DSEJ requested the HOIs for integrating life skills education in various scholastic and co-Scholastic activities undertaken in schools.
