DSEK asks schools to complete admission process by Nov 25

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: After announcing mass promotion to students in Kashmir, Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, has asked heads of educational institutes to complete the admission process for new classes by or before November 25.
The School Education Department last week announced mass promotion to Valley students and waived off Term 2 examinations as classes from July 8 could not be held in Kashmir due to unrest.
“The admission to new classes from 1st to 12th shall be completed by or before 25th of November 2016. As regards class 11th admission, the provisional admission shall commence as per past practice, two weeks after class 10th examination,” an order issued by the DSEK reads.
The order further reads: “Head of the institution(s) are put on instructions to complete pending practical work of 10th and 12th class students appearing in regular examination, session 2016 within 15 days from the date of completion of 10th and 12th class examination respectively; so that they are able to take their external practical examinations.”
“Classification shall commence immediately and time table shall be prepared as per standard practice and instructions issued from time to time”, said the DSEK in his order and added that the time table so devised shall be implemented in letter and spirit. The orders have been issued in pursuance to the instructions communicated by the competent authority vide order number 446-EDU of 2016 dated 17-11-2016 and endorsed to the concerned CEOs vide number DSEK/GS/1414-41 dated 18-11-2016.
In the meantime, the Director, after making clear that there are no plans of winter vacations this year in Kashmir, in a circular issued here said that it has come to his notice that there are no proper heating/ electricity/ drinking/ cleanliness arrangements in most of the Government schools which has an adverse effect on the attendance of the students in schools and a worrying issue for the parents as well.
“It is as such impressed upon the heads of all the educational institutions to ensure that all the requisite arrangements viz. heating/ electricity for lighting purpose/ drinking/ cleanliness be put in place in their respective institutions immediately under an intimation to this Directorate,” the circular issued by DSEK reads, adding that the expenditures on this behalf be met out of locals/O.E.
