Srinagar, Nov 19: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) today prohibited underage students from driving vehicles to schools or coaching centers.
In this regard, directives have been issued by the Director of School Education, Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain, instructing all educational institutions-both private and Government-to ensure strict compliance.
As per the directives, schools and coaching centers must ensure that no student under the legal driving age is allowed to enter their premises with any vehicle, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
“Schools must enforce strict compliance. If a student arrives in a vehicle, they should be denied entry, and their parents or guardians must be informed immediately,” the circular stated.
The circular follows a rise in incidents of underage driving, leading to road accidents and posing significant risks to public safety.
Action is already underway by the Traffic Department, following the tragic Tengpora accident, with scores of two-wheelers seized for such violations.
Parents have also been urged to take responsibility for ensuring their children do not engage in underage driving, emphasizing that a collective effort from institutions and families is necessary to address this critical issue.
