JAMMU, June 12: The Dogra Sahayata Kendra- a unit of Dogra Sadar Sabha, has demanded proper arrangements in Covid care centers and other health institutions along the border belt in Arnia.
This was stated by Th Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and Chairman, Dogra Sahayata Kendra in a statement issued today after holding a joint online Zoom meeting with members of the Arnia Unit of Dogra Sahayata Kendra and its Central Coordination Committee.
He said that due to shelling and frequent firing from across the border the health institutions including the Primary Health Centers functioning in the border belt are not well equipped and, therefore, need special attention for minimizing the suffering of the border area population.
He said that though Covid Care Centers had been set up at the Panchayat level in the Arnia border, trained medical staff needs to be posted for handling Oxygen Concentrators in each Center in the times of emergency, and power back-up arrangements provided to cater for times of electricity failure which is common in villages. He further said that the number of Oxygen Concentrators in each Center also needs to be increased to five, and internet connectivity improved for which urgent appropriate steps in the right direction also required to be taken. The process of vaccination for 18+ population also needs to be looked into as it is very slow and there are lot of problems in getting registration for the vaccination on line, he added.
Mr Charak also underlined the role of the members of the unit in continuing to maintain liaison, actively, between the health authorities, Panchayati Raj Institutions and members of the public to help in ensuring that the Covid care centers being provided by the Administration at the Panchayat level are adequately equipped and staffed and the affected persons are taken care of properly.
Amongst others, who participated in the Zoom meeting, included Ajay Khajuria, Dr Purshottma Sadhotra, Col Karan Singh Jamwal, Samar Dev Singh, S K Rekhi, Dr Raghbir Singh Charak, Chuni Lal, Rajesh Kumar and Suresh Sharma of Arnia unit.
