DSS president listens problems of border people

JAMMU, Oct 29: Keeping in with the ethos of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS), the Sabha president and former Minister, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, visited border villages of Chamb area and listened to the problems of villagers in these remote areas of the region.
Accompanied by Col Karan Singh and Janak Khajooria, Charak interacted with the villagers affected by border shelling and agricultural losses. They told Charak that the education of children has been repeatedly disrupted due to border firing and there are no employment opportunities.
They demanded timely compensation of their losses and special recruitment drive as announced by the Union Home Minister. The Lambardars and Chowkidars pressed for their long pending demand of enhancement of their honourarium. The villagers also pointed out that the safe shelters and the bunkers repeatedly announced by the Governments are yet a far cry.
Taking note of their problems, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak invited the ward presidents and the villagers to come to Jammu for the annual general council meeting.
The meetings were held at Jourian (Maanchak), Chak Malal, Panjtoot, Pallanwala and Khour, which were organized by the local leaders, Puran Singh, Karan Singh, Prem Pal Singh led by tehsil president, Sukhdev Singh.
