JAMMU, July 1: A delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) led by its president and former Minister Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak today met Khurshid A Ganai, Advisor to Governor, and raised various issues of public importance of Jammu region.
The delegation met the Advisor during his periodical visit to Jammu. Gulchain Singh Charak, who keeps close touch with the people and tours extensively in the interiors, apprised the Advisor about the problems faced by the public due to poor road connectivity. He proposed a road to connect village Dasiani to Jakhenoo, some four km on Billawar road. He also projected public demand of a culvert on Kuppar-Baltoa Road in village Dhamma of tehsil Majalta.
The former Minister apprised Ganai that though a transformer has been placed in village Jakhenoo but it is not commissioned since there are no poles and structure to fix it, while people are suffering in this heat. He also pointed out that although there is an overhead water storage tank at Jakhenoo, yet the water supply is scanty on weekly basis adding to the sufferings of local population in this agonizing summer.
The delegation welcomed the plan of the tourism department to place buses for the sightseeing by stranded/waiting pilgrims but wondered as to how the famous and important pilgrimage site of Purmandal/ Utter-behni has been left out in the sightseeing package.
Charak also discussed the ongoing work at the heritage site of Mubarak Mandi, and the delay in issue of notification for the Economically Weak Section (EWS) being considered for counseling by BOPEE.
The Advisor took keen interest in the deliberations of each point and assured early action on all issues.
The delegation included Col Karan Singh Jamwal, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Brig MS Jamwal, and Vidya Sagar Sharma.
