REASI, May 10: Amidst lockdown, the images of patients being carried on shoulders by the villagers in Bhomag area for reaching hospital, are doing the rounds on social media thus describing the tall claims of development in remote areas, which are still deprived of any road connectivity.
The locals said that due to lack of road connectivity, a critical patient had to be carried all the way on shoulders from Aroghe village of Udhampur district towards Kothru in district Reasi for treatment at District Hospital Reasi.
The patient, namely Mashqoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Gani, resident of Aroghe Panchayat Damnote, tehsil Moungri, sustained critical injuries when he fell from a hillock in his native village today. As there is no road connectivity, the injured was carried on shoulders by his relatives from Aroghe (District Udhampur) to Kothru (District Reasi) from where the road connectivity starts and then shifted to District Hospital Reasi.
Two days back, the Excelsior had aired a video of a mother along with new born, being brought home on a palanquin because of no road connectivity to her native village in the area between Saurjandhar and Bagdhar. Earlier, this woman, namely Santosh Kumari, was carried to District Hospital Reasi in the similar way for the delivery.
The residents of Bhomag area between Surjandhar in Reasi district and Bagdhar in Udhampur district, have no road connectivity and thus facing the extreme difficulties, particularly during the emergency time, like shifting a patient.
These pictures show the plight of locals of Bhomag area, which is deprived of road connectivity even after more than 70 years since Independence. There is continuous demand of road connectivity by the locals but the same has been ignored by the administration as well as leadership of Reasi Assembly constituency, under which this area falls.
