JAMMU, Dec 22: Duggar Manch, an organization working in the field of Dogri language, literature and culture, celebrated Dogri Maanta Din.
On this occasion, Duggar Manch felicitated Dhian Singh, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Purskar and Shelinder Singh, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award.
Professor Archna Kesar, head of the Dogri Department, presided over the function whereas Professor Satyapal Srivastav, a renowned writer, was the chief guest. Thakur Kashmir Singh, ex MLC and member Dogri Sangharsh Morcha, was guest of honor.
In his welcome address, Mohan Singh, president Duggar Manch, spoke at length about the struggle launched for the achievement of target fixed by the Dogri Sangharsh Morcha for the inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th schedule of Indian constitution and shared some of his experiences before gathered luminaries. He alleged that the State Government was not serious about the development of Dogri language and culture. While speaking on the occasion, Professor Archna Kesar, said that all Dogras are contributing to enrich the Dogri language and culture but special credit goes to writers and artists. Professor Champa Sharma and Thakur Kashmir Singh also spoke the occasion.
Dr Sushma Rani conducted the function and vote of thank was delivered by Dr Sunita Bhadwal.
