Duggar Manch organizes ‘Mulaqat program’

JAMMU, Oct 28: Duggar Manch, a foremost literary organization working in the field of literature, theatre and culture, organized a ‘Mulaqat program’ in which Mohan Singh, Sahitya Akademi Award winner writer, recited his new poems and shared his experiences with present dignitaries.
The function was chaired by Sahitya Akademi Award winner Dogri writer, DK Vaid and Padamshree Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma, a prominent Dogri writer-critic.
In his welcome address, Shivedev Sushil, organizer, Duggar Manch, spoke about the contribution of Mohan Singh in the field of Dogri literature, especially in the field of Dogri literature as well as in the Dogri language and its development.
He further added that Mohan Singh is not only a writer but activist also who launched an agitation for inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution and finely achieved the goal. He is a committed sympathizer of economically downtrodden and reflection of his ideology can be noticed prominently in his writings, Sushil added.
DK Vaid ‘Darshan Darshi’ quoted some of his compositions related to his left ideology and highlighted his strong connection with progressive writers’ association and people of Duggar land. He further added that Mohan Singh is known for his revolutionary activities not only in his writings but in practical life also.
Prof Nilamber Dev Sharma also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the activities of Duggar Manch. He described Mohan Singh a pioneer of Dogri street theatre and modernization in Dogri plays.
He pointed out the need of a full-fledged Dogri Academy for the promotion and safeguard of Dogri language and literature.
