JAMMU, June 13: Duggar Vikas Manch, a joint forum of prominent NGOs and social, non-political and business organisations of the State today disclosed that it will host a week-long Dogra Festival starting from October 21, 2013 to celebrate the birth anniversary of the greatest Dogra personality, Maharaj Gulab Singh.
This was disclosed by Dineshwar Singh Jamwal, a member of the Manch during a meeting of the working committee of the Manch, which was held here today at Press Club to discuss the functioning of the Forum and its future activities.
The Festival shall culminate on October 27, a day which is celebrated as Infantry Day in the memory of another Dogra Hero, Brigadier Rajinder Singh, who sacrified his life for saving Kashmir from invaders in 1947.
Jamwal said that the Festival will give an ample chance to the people of the region especially the Dogra community to showcase the rich Dogra heritage, art and culture, handicrafts, food etc.
