RAJOURI, May 28: Two shops including a Duke showroom were completely gutted in a major fire incident in main market at Rajouri town last mid night.
Reports said that fire initially broke out in the electronic shop of one S Amrik Singh due to possible short circuit at around 1.15 am. Then, it spread to the adjoining showroom of Duke company belonging to one Vishav Rattan, a local from Ward No. 7.
A night watch man noticed the flames and raised alarm. The police party reached the spot and two fire tenders also rushed there. Before they reached Duke showroom of ready made garments had completely gutted. It took about three hours to firemen to control the devastating fire. The adjoining shops were saved from further destruction.
The police registered a case in this connection. It said that loss of property could be in lakhs and it is being assessed by the owners.
