Dulloo approves hiring of faculty, staff to improve patient care in GMC &AHs

Srinagar, Sept 12: Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department has approved hiring of Faculty, Paramedic, Staff Nurse and other technical staff on SRO-24 basis to improve patient care in Associated Hospital of Govt. Medical College, Jammu.
Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Department Atal Dulloo, chaired a review meeting through video conference from Civil Secretariat here, regarding health care issues related to COVID and non COVID patients.
He interacted with HODs and Faculty members of various departments of GMC Jammu and Associated Hospitals, dealing with COVID positive patients. Bhupinder Kumar, Mission Director NHM was also present in the meeting. From Civil Secretariat Jammu, Principal GMC Jammu, Director Coordination New Medical Colleges J&K and the Medical Superintendents of GMC & AHs were present.
In the meeting special emphasis was laid on management and treatment of COVID positive patients owing to increase in the influx of patients in various hospitals of Jammu. Financial Commissioner stressed on compulsory ward rounds by HoDs/consultants as per the roster for the appropriate & timely treatment.
He directed Principal GMC Jammu and Medical Superintendents to visit COVID wards personally to ensure proper sanitation and better management. Principal GMC Jammu was instructed to prepare a plan to double the existing COVID beds capacity from present 200 to 400 in GMC Jammu.
In order to overcome the shortage of trained manpower in GMCs, on the spot direction was given for hiring of consultants, para-medics, nurses to fill the existing vacancies within a week time.
Financial Commissioner reiterated that Principal GMC Jammu and Executive Engineer, Mechanical & Central Heating Division, GMC Jammu shall ensure round the clock oxygen supply in GMC & Associated Hospitals for which XEN shall make rosters of AEEs, JEs and other supporting staff to ensure their round the clock availability in control room which shall be set up in GMC by the Mechanical & Central Heating Division.
He showed his concern for increase in mortality in Jammu and stressed for starting early treatment in patients for better outcome of the disease. He stressed that consultants must visit COVID patients personally in the wards. He directed that faculty of Medicine, Chest Disease, Anaesthesia shall put their faculty members, who shall make rounds in each COVID ward on regular basis as per roster. Institution will keep a record of the rounds made by the consultants.
Financial Commissioner directed Principal GMC & MS GMC to ensure earliest installation of liquid oxygen tank and on the demands of additional supply chain of oxygen cylinders, Managing Director, JKMSCL assured that there are sufficient number of oxygen cylinders available for any kind of back up support.
To maintain transparency, Financial Commissioner directed for installation of IP based CCTVs in all the COVID wards so that 24×7 monitoring can be done remotely. Principal GMC Jammu will do daily reporting of faculty wise visit in COVID wards. It was also decided in the meeting to start the rapid testing in emergency wing of the hospitals for all the patients being admitted.
