JAMMU, Sept 13: Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Department, Atal Dulloo today visited Government Medical College (GMC) here and chaired a review meeting regarding health care issues related to COVID and non-COVID patients.
Dulloo interacted with HODs of various departments of GMC and Associated Hospitals, Principal ASCOMS, Administrator SMVD Hospital Kakrayal, Katra, Director Coordination New Medical Colleges J&K, Engineers from various wings of the GMC and the Medical Superintendents of GMC and Associated Hospitals who were also present there.
Special emphasis was given on management and treatment of COVID positive patients with uninterrupted oxygen supply.
The Financial Commissioner stressed on the enhancement of present strength of COVID beds at GMC Jammu and Gandhi Nagar Hospital.
Administrators of ASCOMS and Kakrayal hospitals were also advised to increase their bed capacity at the war footing so as to remain prepared to cater to large influx of symptomatic COVID-19 positive patients.
In order to ensure the redressal of grievances of general public related to COVID-19, on the spot orders were issued for the establishment of 24×7 control room at GMC Jammu which shall be headed by Dr ADS Manhas along with Dr Sanjeev Gupta and Dr Jitender Mehta.
This control room will address the issues related to COVID-19 positive patients and will coordinate with faculty members of GMC and Medical Superintendents. Regular calls will be made to the concerned COVID ward in-charges to ensure proper medication and other logistics including food. Proper record of the roster of the faculty members will be maintained for their rounds in the COVID wards.
Chief Engineer, Mech Engr Deptt will be responsible for availability of Senior Mech Engr in the control room to attend any technical snag in oxygen supply, he added.
The Financial Commissioner also directed that the doctors from non-clinical and paraclinical departments like Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and PSM shall be utilized for duties at GMC as well as Gandhi Nagar Hospital.
After the meeting, Dulloo made the round of the emergency wing of the hospital and interacted with the staff as well the patients. He visited designated control room and inspected its readiness.
