Duloo, Dr Sushil among 13 awarded

JAMMU, Jan 25- The Government today announced the grant of State Awards on the eve of Republic Day in favour of 13 persons for rendering meritorious services in the different fields.
Award of bravery of Rs 51,000, a Medal and a Citation was given to Vivek Kumar son of Shamsher Chand R/o Akhnoor. The cash award of Rs 51,000, a Shawl worth Rs 10,000 and Citation in the field of literature was granted in favour of Ghulam Nabi Firaq.
Award for performing Arts of Rs 51,000 each besides a Medal and Citation has been granted in favour of N. D. Jamwal (Painter/Sculptor) and Ali Mohammad (Suma player). Cash award for excellence in Arts and Crafts of Rs 51,000, a Medal and a citation was granted in favour of Syed Amjid Ali son of late Syed Hussain R/o Zadibal Srinagar.
The awards for meritorious public services of Rs 51,000, a Medal and Citation to each awardee granted in favour of Atul Duloo, Commissioner Secretary, Tourism and Culture Departments, Showkat Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma, Head of Department, Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu and Dr. Mohammad Saleem Wani, Additional Prof. Urology and Kidney Transplant Surgeon, Department of Urology, SKIMS, Srinagar.
Awards for outstanding service under media category of Rs 51,000, a Medal and Citation to each awardee was granted to late Sham Koul (Posthumously), Bashir Ahmad Sofi, Bureau Chief, UNI, Srinagar and S. P. Sharma from Tribune Newspaper.
Mr Sofi had joined the profession as a Reporter in Excelsior in 1979. He had opened Excelsior bureau in Srinagar in 1982. He also started working for UNI covering sports. He has several major expose to his credit.
Dr Sushil Sharma, HoD Cardiology has established interventional procedures inJammu. He had done MD/DM from PGI Chandigarh. He got international training from Korea, Japan and other countries. He also called international faculty from France and UK to Cardiology Department, GMC Jammu.
