RAMBAN, Apr 2: A dumpsite near District Hospital has gutted in fire, which probably broke out due to short circuit.
However, the hospital authorities put the lives of the patients on risk by shifting them to non-operational trauma centre.
As per reports, around 12 Noon today, fire broke out in the store near DH probably due to short circuit.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started operation to douse the flames with the help of locals.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services was also informed about the fire incident, but tenders along with fire fighters took around 40 to 45 minutes to reach the spot and till then the store comprising gadgets of JKPCC, expired medicines, oxygen cylinders, etc got completely damaged.
Police cops and locals also face various difficulties to bring the ablaze under control, as oxygen cylinder also exploded. After hectic efforts of around three hours, the fire was brought under control.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Meanwhile, inspite of shifting the patients to safer place, the hospital authorities shifted them to non-operational trauma centre, which created anguish among the attendants of the patients.
“Our patient is under treatment in this District Hospital and has been operated. After the fire incident, we have to shift our patient to non-operational trauma centre”, one of the attendant of a patient said, adding that hospital authorities should have made full proof arrangements before shifting the patients to trauma centre.
However, Ramban police has taken cognizance in this regards and started investigation to ascertain the reason behind the ablaze.
