Durga Nagar Committee delegation calls on Municipal Commissioner

JAMMU, Feb 14: A deputation led by Roshan Lal Raina president of the Durga Nagar Welfare Committee called on Municipal Commissioner in her office chambers and demanded that proper check be maintained on rates of essential commodities as Maha Shivratri is approaching near.
The delegation said that some shopkeepers and vendors have started increasing rates of various daily use items which is totally unjustified. It further demanded that teams of Municipal officials be deputed to various areas to maintain a check on the market. It urged the Metrological Department to depute the teams for maintaining check on rates.
The Committee made an appeal to Service Selection Board J&K to conduct the interviews of the candidates who had applied for Class 4th posts referred by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Migrants as they are going to become over-aged. It demanded issuance of orders for 52 candidates who have been selected as Legal Assistants to rid them of the mental agony. The Committee sought personal intervention of Lt Governor in this regard.
In an appeal to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants the Committee demanded that all the essential commodities needed on Shivratri especially walnuts be made available on reasonable rates. It further demanded allocation of land for tube well and construction of lanes in Durga Nagar Sector 1, 2, 3, metalling and premixing of road , restoration of transport system and improving the water supply in the area. It demanded that water supply be ensured continuously on February 20 and 21 for one hour to perform rituals and pooja on the holy festival. Moreover there should be no power cut on both the days. It also demanded that relief assistance of February be released in advance and sugar quota be also released to migrants.
