JAMMU, Sept 14: A deputation of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee today met Commissioner Secretary, PHE, who is also Commissioner Secretary, Relief & Rehabilitation Department, at Jal Bhawan, Narwal Building, Jammu and apprised him of their problems.
Led by Roshan Lal Raina, president of the Committee, the deputation apprised the Commissioner about prolonging water supply gap in the area due to which the residents are badly suffering.
Raina appealed the Commiss-ioner to issue directions for start of pipeline work in Kailashpati Lane as early as possible, as people are facing severe water shortage. The Commissioner was also informed about the leakages in Durga Nagar Sector 1, 2 and 3, besides Durga Nagar Enclave, and emphasized for repair of pipelines to avoid wastage of water.
The deputation also apprised the Commissioner that names of many migrant Kashmiri Pandits have been deleted in the Municipal Corporation voter lists while in 2004 and 2005 Municipal elections, their names were existing in voter lists.
The Commissioner on the spot gave clear cut direction to Chief Engineer, PHE and SE PHE to take the matter seriously and ensure regular water supply in the locality and pluck off the leakages. He also gave instructions to Relief Commissioner Migrant Jammu to report why the names of KPs do not exist in voter lists.
