Durga Nagar residents face power cuts, water scarcity

JAMMU, Oct 10: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee has expressed serious concern over long duration power curtailments in the area and urged the authorities to take necessary steps in improving the same as power cuts has made the lives of people miserable as the same has badly hit the water supply in the area.
The Committee, which held a meeting today under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina said that they have come to know that due to construction of Akhnoor road the power supply is being snapped in various localities including Durganagar for seven to eight hours daily putting people to lot of trouble. The meeting demanded that the same be averted in the larger interests of the people of the area as power curtailment has hampered the water supply in the area also.
Raina also made an appeal to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, T K Bhat that in addition to Ayushman Bharat Scheme the other schemes of Government of India meant for the welfare of people be also included in the camp to be held at Durga Nagar. He complimented the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha for this initiative and said the displaced Pandits from Valley will fully support his every step meant for the betterment of the people of J&K.
Raina also extended full support to Jagti Tenement Committee which is on hunger strike for last over one week now in support of the demands of the displaced people. He appealed the Government to hold dialogue with migrants sitting on hunger strike.
