JAMMU, Sept 3: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee has made appeal to Prime Minster, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah demanding enhancement of cash relief for Kashmiri migrants from Rs 13,000 to Rs 20,000 per month per family.
In this regard the Committee led by its president, Roshan Lal Raina has sent separate memoranda to Prime Minister and Home Minister. The memoranda, while highlighting the problems of displaced people from Kashmir said that they are passing through hard days due to sky rocketing prices and are unable to pull on the meager cash relief of Rs 13,000 per month per family.
The memoranda said that the migrants have been waiting for a pretty long time that Government will look into the matter and enhance the monthly cash assistance for the hapless displaced people from the Valley who are craving for their honourable rehabilitation for last 33 years in their homeland Kashmir.
The memoranda also highlighted the issue of package employees and demanded their adjustment in safer zones so that they will not fall a prey to militants once again. It also demanded providing of facilities like water, electricity, transport, schooling, medical and playground etc to migrants in Jammu. It demanded restoration of migrants land and other property besides the land and property of religious places encroached by mafia in Kashmir and representation to Kashmiri Pandits both in Legislative Assembly and Parliament.
It, while highlighting the problems of displaced students demanded allotment of land at Rajinder Nagar Jammu for construction of Migrant Higher Secondary School and further demanded construction of 3000 residential accommodations at Purkhoo for the people living on rent. Besides, soft loans for over-aged youth were also demanded and facilities and financial help be provided to those migrants suffering from chronic diseases.
Highlighting the problems of residents of Durga Nagar faced by them due to acute water scarcity, it urged both PM and HM to pass on directives to UT administration to settle the issue by taking immediate steps in this regard.
The issue of scholarships for migrant students and old age pension and other issues were also highlighted in the memoranda.
