JAMMU, Oct 12: Dussehra was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal by various educational institutions.
Banyan International School celebrated Dussehra with pomp and show. The life of lord Rama was beautifully depicted by the kindergarten wing of the school. The major attraction of the show was torching the effigy of Ravana. Vice Principal of the school highlighted the importance of the festival.
Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Greater Kailash celebrated Dussehra. Cracker filled effigy of Ravana was burnt symbolizing the victory of good over evil. Principal, Meera Soni, Vice-Principal, S Malhotra highlighted the importance of the festival.
RM Public School, Chowadhi, sister concern of Shiksha Niketan celebrated Mahanavmi and Dussehra with great fervour and gaiety. The programme started with lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by short play depicting scenes of Dussehra and burning the effigies of Kumbhkaran, Meghnath and Ravan. The students also participated in painting activity and fun party. Principal Ravinder Kour, Chairman Rameshwar Mengi, Trustee Rita Mengi, Administrator Meenakshi Sharma, Vice Principal Shashi Jamwal and coordinators Meenakshi Pathania and Pooja Padwal were also present.
Asha School, Jammu Garrison celebrated Dussehra with pomp and show. Children dressed themselves in the characters of Lord Ram, Sita, Hanuman and Ravana. A few events of Ramayan were enacted by the children in the form of play, dance and songs. Suman Mathur, Principal, Savita and Gurucharan Kaur, Teachers highlighted the importance of the festival. An effigy of Ravana was burnt as a symbol of victory of good over evil.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated Dussehra with enthusiasm. The programme started with the Mantra of Goddess Durga by the tiny tots of Nursery class. A cultural programme performed by the student’s showcased different scenes from Ramayana. Energetic performance of Dandiya dance in colourful costumes enthralled the audience. Principal Rohini Aima, Harmeet and Parminder Kour apprised the audience about the importance of Dussehra.
JK Little Millennium School, Tirth Nagar, Talab Tillo celebrated Dussehra with great endeavor and enthusiasm. Few pieces cutouts of picture puzzles of characters of Ramayana were distributed among the children with aim to develop thinking and analytic skills in joining the matching pieces and solving the puzzle. The students were also distributed black and white coloring sheets to colour the sheets as per their choice to check the imagination skills of individual child. Rajni Gupta, Director, JK Little Millennium School, was also present.
