* Takes review of industries sector

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today directed the officers to ensure need based and area specific development is undertaken besides zero tolerance for corruption and any malpractices.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a review meeting of R&B convened at Civil Secretariat.
Secretary R&B, Bupinder Kumar, Director Finance, Director Planning, Chief Engineers from different engineering wings, regional officer, NHAI, CE Project Beacon, Executive Director NHIDCL and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
While taking sector wise review of different initiatives, the Dy CM stressed on undertaking need based and area specific development so that the real motive of the schemes being implemented for increasing connectivity of Jammu and Kashmir is ensured.
He said that the feedback of the people at the ground level should also be taken into consideration thereby making the Government’s initiatives holistic.
The DyCM also stressed on the need for ensuring quality of works is not compromised. He said that the executing officers should ensure that the work is done in accordance with the laid down norms and strict action would be initiated against those violating the norms and using any kind of substandard material.
The prominent among the projects reviewed included Semi Ring Roads Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, Banihal, Delhi- Katra Expressway, Jammu-Akhnoor road, Chatru- Vailoo, Khilani- Chatru, Akhnoor- Poonch road, Srinagar- Uri road, Baramulla- Tangdar road, Qazigund- Banihal, Qazingund- Srinagar, Dumail- Katra- Reasi- Pouni road and other road projects.
The DyCM also directed for ensuring proper maintenance of different vital raids like Mughal Road, National Highway. He said that Officers should ensure that these vital roads are properly maintained and smooth to and fro flow of traffic is maintained for public convenience.
Meanwhile, DyCM emphasised on bringing vibrancy in the industries sector for economic growth and employment creation for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister said this while taking review of the industries sector. He underscored the importance of revitalizing the industries sector to propel economic growth and employment creation.
The DyCM highlighted the sector’s potential to drive economic development and job creation, stressing the need for innovative strategies to boost industrial growth. He emphasized the Government’s commitment towards fostering a conducive business environment, encouraging entrepreneurship and attracting investments. He said that the vibrancy in this sector will also play important role to enhance its contribution to J&K’s GDP.
Besides this, stress was also laid on generating job opportunities for the local youth through promotion of MSMEs, startups and large-scale industries in J&K.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials to identify areas for improvement and implement effective policies, develop infrastructure to support industrial growth and ensure ease of doing business for the aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed for undertaking regular meetings in order to speed up implementation by removing impediments and bottlenecks, if any. This will ensure that the developmental schemes being executed under different sectors and centrally sponsored schemes are closed within the stipulated time avoiding the cost escalation and related things.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce Vikramjit Singh and Directors of Industries and Commerce Jammu/Kashmir, Handicrafts and Handlooms, MD JKTPO, MD SIDCO, SICOP, Director EDI, MD JKI, MD JKCL, CEO JK-KVIB and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
