SRINAGAR, May 12: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh has asked the officers of the Housing and Urban Development Department to speed up pace of work on various development projects undertaken in the sector so that people get modern and requisite housing amenities and infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with the officers during his extensive tour of the Srinagar city to take stock of the pace of various projects undertaken in housing and urban development sectors.
He was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Hridesh Kumar, Vice Chairman LAWDA, Sarmad Hafeez, Vice-Chairman SDA Sheikh Tahseen Mustafa and other senior officers.
While inspecting sewerage treatment plant at Brari Nambal, Dr Singh directed VC LAWDA to ensure that necessary mechanism is put in place to ensure that all STPs of the city function properly. He also asked him to ensure cleanliness of all lakes and water bodies besides ensuring their preservation.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the upcoming multiplex food court cum recreation centre near Sangarmaal City Centre and called for speeding up the work on the project as it would provide the necessary recreational facilities to the people of the city.
Dr Singh while inspecting the parking lot at Press Colony Srinagar having a capacity of 200 vehicles directed for constructing a multi-level mechanical parking facility there which would accommodate more than 400 vehicles and would go a long way in decongesting the area.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the multiplex coming up at Sheikhbagh, Lal Chowk and directed for its early completion. He also directed for taking up the project in PPP mode for its time bound completion.
While inspecting the pace of work on Rakh-e-Arth housing colony, Dr Singh directed for its time bound completion maintaining that the plots given to the allotees would solve the housing problem of the persons who are getting displaced from Dal area.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the project would come up as a mini township within the city. He also directed the officers to ensure that the directions given by the late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed while inspecting the site are implemented in letter and spirit.
