JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today chaired a meeting convened to review status of Jammu-Akhnoor four laning road project.
Dr Singh, reviewed action taken by various stakeholders for construction of 30.7 km long four lane road from Jammu to Akhnoor. He directed the concerned departments to adhere to the timelines fixed for project execution and hence completion.
Minister for PHE, I&FC, Sham Lal Choudhary was also present on the occasion.
“Jammu – Akhnoor four laning project will be vital to the overall transport system of Jammu region as it would also be cutting the travel time to districts like Rajouri and Poonch.
In addition, there would also be huge economic benefits for the local population besides connectivity of peripheral areas with the mainstream in a more robust manner. “, maintained the Deputy Chief Minister
Dy CM asked PHE and PDD Departments to submit pending estimates for shifting of their respective utilities so as to start the work. He also asked the concerned for taking up transfer of irrigation land after proper revenue documentation.
Dr Singh directed the concerned officials to expedite the work regarding land clearances and removal of encroachments. He further asked them to work in synchronization so as to remove all the hindrances for commencement of the project.
“Minimum loss of public property should be kept in mind while starting the work on the project and construction of elevated roads to bypass the traffic at crossing links “, he directed.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary B.B Vyas, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary R&B Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary PDD Hardesh Kumar, Secretary PHE,I&FC, M.Raju, DC Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan and members of NHIDCL.
