JAMMU, June 1: Advocate Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation, called on Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and also apprised him of various issues related to developmental works in the Jammu province and in JMC.
The Deputy Mayor sought support of the Union minister for the development of Jammu and bring more projects for the citizens of J&K. She also urged the Minister for his personal intervention to ensure early completion of AIIMS, expedite the work on four laning of Jammu-Akhnoor section of Jammu-Poonch highway, expedite the work of Ring road project, development of tourist destinations in Jammu province, completion of IIT campus and IIM campus in Jammu.
Dr Jitendra Singh patiently heard to all the issues projected by the Deputy Mayor and assured that he is committed to the equitable development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh region and is willing to take all necessary steps in this direction.
The Deputy Mayor also held a meeting with Chief Transport Officer, Talat Mehmood and discussed various innovative ideas for keeping Jammu clean and green. In view of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Deputy Mayor directed the CTO JMC to provide water storage clay pots in steel frames with sheds at various places to provide water to the general public and yatris as this idea is more economical and convenient. She also directed CTO to provide the facility of dustbins with slogans at all the needed places so as to maintain cleanliness during the yatra.
