JAMMU, Apr 13: Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma today distributed free ration in Ward number-1 under Gareeb Kalyaan Anna Yojna scheme of PM Modi under which free ration is provided to PHH, AAB and BPL families.
Speaking on the occasion, Purnima Sharma said under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyaan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) the beneficiary families get 5 kg ration per person every month.
She further said that PMGKAY was launched by the Prime Minister during the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic so that no family suffers due to hunger during the pandemic time.
“A total of 80 crore people belonging to poor families have availed the benefits of this scheme and even now this scheme had been made available to the public for more six months starting from April 1, 2022,” she maintained.
Naresh Abrol, Subash Anand, Yeshpal Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
