JAMMU, Dec 7: Deputy Mayor Jammu Baldev Singh Billawaria today inaugurated a Women’s Skill Development Training Center at Ward 55, Kunjwani in RS Pura-Jammu South constituency.
The Center has been established in collaboration with Dogra Sewa Sambhal Trust (DSST) and Jagriti Mahila Udyog Kendra (JMUK), who provided sewing machines for the Center. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, besides president of Dogra Sewa Sambhal Trust Rajiv Sharma and Jagriti Mahila Udyog Kendra president Veena Bakshi.
Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that the Center will be a great source of empowerment for the women of the area, as it will not only provide them with a skill to make a living, but also give them a sense of confidence and self-esteem. He said that the Center will be a great step towards the socio-economic development of the region.
“The Center will provide training and resources to women in the area in order to help them become self-sufficient and secure a better future. It will also provide free sewing machines to empower the women of the area,” he added.
Deputy Mayor said that the Trust will provide the training at no cost. He said that the trained women can start their own business or get employed with the help of the Trust. He also said that the Trust will provide financial help to the women who wish to start their own business.
“As Deputy Mayor of Jammu, I am committed to empowering the women of Jammu. We are taking various initiatives to ensure that the women of Jammu have access to the same opportunities and resources as the men have in our city,” he asserted.
Billawaria said they are focusing on providing better education and employment opportunities to women, and also providing them with better access to health care and other essential services.
BJP Kunjwani Mandal president Ranjit Singh, Inderjeet Kour, Vikram Singh and Neenu Mehra were also present on the occasion.
