JAMMU, June 28: Dy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Purnima Sharma here today chaired a review meeting with Chairman, Public Health Sanitation Standing Committee, Narinder Singh; Chairman Swachh Bharat Standing Committee, Yashpal Sharma; Ajit Singh JC (W) JMC, XEn Jal Shakti Department; R.K Rakwal, XEn PDD, Sanjeev Mohan and JEs of concerned departments.
JMC Councillors Sunita Koul, Sandhya Gupta, Akshay Sharma, Mohi-ud-din Choudhary, Jagdish Kumar, Sucha Singh, Gopal Gupta, Nidhi Magotra, Anita Sharma, Jeet Kumar, Neelam, Narottam Sharma, Prof. (Dr.) Yudhvir Singh, Sat Paul Karlupia, Rama and Suneet Kumar were also present in the meeting.
Speaking in the meeting on issues of general public Dy. Mayor issued instructions to XEn PDD and XEn Jal Shakti Department that AEEs/JEs under their control be directed to attend phone calls of Councillors for matters of public importance.
Purnima also issued instructions XEn Jal Shakti Department that leakages of water pipes be immediately plugged.
“Water pipes passing through drains should be replaced in old city areas while new tube wells should be constructed to tackle the problem of shortage of drinking water and the damaged overhead tanks should be dismantled and damaged water pipes lying within JMC limits be replaced,” she maintained adding that there should be a proper timing for the water supply in all JMC Wards.
Xen, Jal Shakti Department and PDD assured the Dy. Mayor that every possible step will be taken for the redressal of genuine demands of public and necessary instructions will be issued to the staff to take the issues of Councillors on priority.
