Dy Mayor seeks citizens’ participation to get Jammu in top 10 clean cities

JAMMU, Mar 2: Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Advocate Purnima Sharma today sought participation and cooperation of citizens to get Jammu City in top 10 clean cities of the country.

Advocate Purnima Sharma said that without the active participation of the citizens, the Jammu Municipal Corporation cannot achieve the target of zero waste. She was addressing a press conference along with Municipal Commissioner Avny Lavasa regarding Swachh Survekshan 2021 and ongoing Awareness campaign/IEC under Swachh Bharat Mission in the Jammu city. The press conference was organized by JMC, All India Institute of Local Self Government (JMC-IEC Partners) and 92.7 FM.
The Deputy Mayor apprised the media of various programmes initiated by the Corporation including cleanliness drives, nukkad nataks, workshops, events in educational institutes, Ward of the week Award to those where maximum participation taking place, Be a Swachhta Hero campaign and many other activities.
The designing T-shirt conveying the message of “Be A Swachhta Hero Campaign” was also displayed to spread the awareness of cleanliness. Advocate Sharma requested the citizens of Jammu to participate in the Swachh Survekshan 2021 and vote for the Jammu City to improve its ranking.
Earlier, a briefing was given by Avny Lavasa regarding the need and importance of the solid waste management, Survekshan 2021 and the role of citizens in making the Jammu city clean and beautiful.
Others present in the conference were Chairman Swachh Bharat Yashpaul Sharma, Chairman Health and Sanitation Narendar Singh, Chairman Social Justice Kuldeep Singh Chib, Joint commissioner (A) Sudhir Bali, Secretary JMC Tinna Mahajan, Health Officer Dr Sanjogita Sudan, Rajat Gupta-Project Manager (IEC), Dheeraj Singh Manhas (Project Manager-2-IEc), Ankush (ZAM-IEC), Vikrant Sharma-J&K Head (Big 92.7 FM), Siddharth Mahajan, Station Head and RJ Juhie conducted the conference.
