JAMMU, Dec 16: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today stressed the need for promoting regional languages through extended literary activities.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized by Duggar Manch at K L Sehgal Hall here today in connection with the release of Dogri translation of Satish Verma’s book ‘Pakistan Di Haqeeqat Kanne Rubaro’. The Dogri translation of the book has been done by Dr Neelam Sareen.
Legislators, Ramesh Arora, Dr Krishan Lal, Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, Dr Shahid Choudhary, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Arun Manhas, President Duggar Manch, Mohan Singh, Secretary, Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Aziz Hajini, academicians, writers, and journalists attended the function.
Dr Singh said there is a pressing need to promote the regional languages and culture as they provide a strong and vibrant medium of expression of the artists and writers besides giving an insight into the history and cultural moorings of a particular region. “By ensuring propagation of regional languages, we would be ensuring that the young generation also gets to know about their cultural roots, which would ensure their proper socialization,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister added that the Government is also working through various initiatives for preservation and promotion of regional languages and culture. He said people should also contribute in carrying forward the Governmental initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, legislators, Ramesh Arora and Dr Krishan Lal also called for preservation and promotion of the regional languages. They said there is a dire need of promoting Dogri language and concerted efforts are afoot so that the language is properly promoted and propagated.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shahid Choudhary highlighted the importance of the regional languages and the steps to be taken for their preservation and promotion.
President, Duggar Manch, Mohan Singh also spoke on the occasion and called for a synergized and collective approach to supplement the Government’s efforts of preservation and promotion of regional languages.
