DyCM reviews infrastructural damages, restoration works in Doda

DODA, Mar 24: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh accompanied by Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali, Minister of State for PWD (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma, MLA Doda Shakti Raj and MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Kumar today visited Doda district and reviewed the status of damages caused to infrastructure, life and property due to recent torrential rains and snow fall in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Kumar presented sector wise details of damages to private property, roads, power infrastructure, water supply schemes, irrigation canals etc and apprised the Ministers that under R&B Sector the total damages to the public utilities are approximately Rs. 8 crore. Similarly PMGSY roads suffered total damages of approximately Rs.  5 crore. Damages in Power Sector , Public Health Engineering and  RDD were also brought to the notice of Ministers by the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Chief Minister directed Deputy Commissioner Doda to submit a detailed report of the damages so that the requsite steps are taken on  priority. While reviewing the status of restoration of power supply, Dr. Singh stressed on  adequate measures   to avoid damages to power infrastructure and directed for  use of best quality materials for repairing damaged transformers.
Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh informed that a proposal for setting up a technical school for training the unemployed youth who will be absorbed in the Power Projects in the area is in the pipeline.
He asked the officers to come up with innovative ideas and proposals which could help in better delivery of public services to the people and assured that such proposals will be taken into consideration during policy formulation. Dr Singh stressed on making the system more accountable and transparent for ensuring prompt services to the people.
Minster for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali directed the Deputy Commissioner to constitute a committee  comprising of Tehsildar SHO and  Officers from CA&PD for monitoring the proper distribution of essential commodities through CA&PD in the District. He also stressed on expediting the ongoing restoration work of  Batote -Doda National Highway, to ensure timely  transportation of essential commodities.
Earlier, the Ministers also visited Bhalessa and took stock of essential commodities and reviewed on ground damages to public utilities in the area.
SSP Doda Z.N Manhas, ADC Doda Imam Din, ACR Doda Vaibhav Kohli, among other district officers and officers from Engineering Departments also attended the meeting in Doda.
